We believe early childhood is a foundational and meaningful time. Our role is to nurture,
guide, and support each child through caring relationships, intentional teaching, and play-based experiences. We are honoured to be part of your child’s early learning journey and to support them as they grow into confident, capable, and compassionate individuals.

We are a Christian facility
As a Christian childcare centre, faith is present in gentle and age-appropriate ways. At times, such as during select circle times or special moments, children may be invited to engage in simple faith- based stories, reflections, or discussions focused on values such as kindness, gratitude, helping others, and caring for the world around us. These experiences are offered thoughtfully and respectfully, complementing our play-based program rather than directing it.
Committed
We are committed to providing a safe, caring, and nurturing environment where children are supported as capable, curious, and unique individuals. Our program is play-based and child-centred, supporting children’s physical, emotional, social, creative, and intellectual development at their own pace.
Respect
Rooted in a foundation of respect, kindness, and care for one another, our approach reflects both best practices in early learning and the values of the faith community in which our centre is located.
Safety
We provide a safe and secure environment that allows for fun and creativity and endeavor to challenge each child to enhance their personal uniqueness.
Curriculum
Our curriculum and daily practices are guided by the British Columbia Early Learning Framework (ELF). We support well-being and belonging by creating environments where children feel emotionally safe, respected, and connected. We encourage engagement with others, materials, and the world through open-ended, play-based experiences that promote curiosity, collaboration, and exploration.

Learning at Cedar Grove emerges through children’s interests, strengths, and natural curiosity. Through play, exploration, and meaningful relationships, educators observe, listen, and respond to children’s ideas, extending learning in thoughtful and developmentally appropriate ways. Children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, take appropriate risks, and learn through hands-on experiences connected to real-life contexts. For older children, intentional experiences are offered to support school readiness while maintaining the importance of play as the foundation for learning.

We value communication and literacies, recognizing children’s many ways of expressing ideas—through language, art, movement, storytelling, music, and symbolic play. Through inclusive and reflective practices, we foster identity, social responsibility, and diversity, honouring each child’s background, abilities, and perspectives while supporting empathy, respect, and a sense of community.

We place a strong emphasis on emotional development and self-regulation. Educators model empathy, patience, and problem-solving, supporting children in recognizing and expressing their emotions in respectful and constructive ways. These skills are foundational to children’s well-being, relationships, and lifelong learning.
Family partnership is central to our philosophy. We view families as co-partners in their child’s learning journey and value open communication, collaboration, and mutual respect. By working together, we build trusting relationships that support each child’s sense of belonging and development. We also value community connection and encourage children to develop care and responsibility toward others.

Luke 18:15-17 – “The people were also bringing babies to Jesus to have him touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children and said, ”Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”
